(Mellitus Infectious) MolluscumContagiosum: It is a contagious viral skin disease that affects the skin only and appears in small grains on the surface of the skin resembling pearls. It is automatically cured within a few months to two years. It is more common in children but may also affect adults.
The causative agent is Poxvirus, which reaches the skin through small holes in the hair follicles. The virus is transmitted from an infected person to another healthy person in several ways:
- Direct infection: by repeated contact with the affected skin.
- Indirect Infection: By using towels and personal tools for an infected person.
- Sexual contact: In case of genital infection. Malignant infections are therefore considered sexually transmitted diseases.
- Autologous infection: the infection (granules) in the same person from one place to another by the hands of the injured
The period of incubation is the period between infection with the virus and the emergence of symptoms of the disease between 2 – 4 weeks and may be more than a month.
The most affected places are the face, neck, limbs (arm, leg), genitals.
The infection is in the form of multiple granules of small size with a diameter between 2-6 mm. White or brown.
Is similar to a pearl or dome and has a small (small gap) in the middle and is not painful and contains a white substance cheesy or waxy highly infectious appear if the age of the grains or pressure on them.
উপশম : There are some important tips for the patient to prevent the occurrence of infection, whether self or the surrounding:
1. Wash hands thoroughly after contact with granules.
2. Do not share towels and personal tools that touch granules with other people.
3. Avoid grazing with the hands.
Treatment is to prevent infection as the disease is rapidly transmitted and includes:
1. Topical properties such as phenolic coating of granules.
2. Extract the contents of the granules (the white clay material is highly contagious) through the age of the granules by the dried and the tool is then crushed by the carbolic acid or concentrated phenol. This is done after using a local anesthetic.
3 freeze the pellets by ethyl chloride and then peel them. In case the number of granules is large, this process is carried out in stages every 3-6 weeks.
4. Electrophoresis for granules.
5.Laser.
